Advancing artist in need of advice.?
There are lots of things you can do where distance, lack of suitable courses and money is a problem. There is a series of 6 books by the artist Andrew Loomis which you can download for free and then print off. I recommend them. Then there is Youtube where you will finds lots of tutorials on just about any aspect of art you happen to be interested it. And of course, there are lots of free tutorial sites online too. I've provided a link to one I found by chance last week. It has a whole section on Anime/manga. There is more you can do. Carry a small sketchbook with you and draw anything you find interesting wherever you happen to be. You can do quick sketches of people in parks, cafes etc. Do you have a friend or family member who's interested in art or who you could persuade to pose for you. You can also buy an artist's wooden manikin very cheaply which will help you practice the basic proportions of figure drawing. If you need any more help, just ask. Meanwhile, I hope this helps and best of luck.
